Corte Madera FC Families:
For most of us, the soccer season is a distant memory! Believe it or not, a handful of our teams had their final State Cup games this past weekend. These were games that were postponed due to the fires and December rain. Congratulations to ALL of our 17 teams who experienced success on so many different levels this season. For some teams, this success was winning their State Cup brackets and for others it was turning early season challenges into late season successes.
Most of our players have already moved on to basketball, flag football and other sports, which we are thrilled about! As a Club, we believe that the healthiest athletic environment for our children is the multisport approach. More and more research is coming out highlighting the detrimental effects of early specialization in sports. In line with this belief, Corte Madera FC will not offer any club sponsored soccer in the winter or spring months. For those players who wish to keep their skills sharp, Corte Madera Parks and Recreation will be offering spring clinics beginning in early March. Coached by Abe and many of our trainers, these clinics will be skills focused and will also be open to the larger soccer community. Registration for these clinics is available on the Park and Recreation website. Alternatively, you can also call Park and Rec to register.
If you are interested in getting more involved with Corte Madera FC, PLEASE let us know! We are looking to get more community members involved and are specifically looking for somebody to help us run events (Welcome BBQ and possibly additional events) and somebody to help manage the website and our social media.
2019 tryouts will be held in May. As we get closer, we will be sure to communicate dates and times. Thank you for making 2018 our strongest season yet.
