Fall has arrived in Marin! We’ve finally gotten some much-awaited rain and the leaves on our trees are beginning to change color. Many of our teams had great success at last weekend’s tournaments and a handful even landed in the finals of their divisions. Congratulations to the U11 Boys Red and U12 Boys Red teams that won their respective age groups at the Santa Cruz Classic. We loved seeing Corte Madera FC players cheering and supporting other teams down at Tall Trees. That’s what this community-minded Club is all about!
We are getting to the really fun part of the season when teams really begin to come together and play great soccer. The first round of State Cup play is behind us and most teams are halfway through league competition. Come on out and cheer on your favorite Corte Madera FC teams this weekend at Town Park. Girl Scout Troop #33204 will be holding a bake sale by the Rec Center parking lot on Saturday from 10-12. Stop by and grab some goodies. Proceeds will go to help cover the cost of shipping soccer gear to the US Soccer Foundation’s Passback program (see below).

Donate last year’s uniforms and other gently used soccer gear!
Girl Scout Troop #33204 is collecting soccer gear such as uniforms, cleats, shin guards and balls for the US Soccer Foundation’s Passback program. Passback redistributes soccer equipment to children in underserved communities that don’t have the resources to buy new equipment. Passback has collected and redistributed over one-million pieces of gently used and new equipment since its inception in 2002.
Collection boxes can be found in the front offices of Neil Cummins, Hall, and the Cove Schools and the Corte Madera Recreation Center. The collection will take place until the end of October. Please bring in last year’s uniforms and any gently used gear!
Featured Teams of the Week:
The U8 Girls Team, also known as the Red Foxes, are enjoying s stellar season thus far. Parent coaches, Kurt Houtkooper and Morgan Berman, love these girls’ strong sense of teamwork and togetherness. The Red Foxes are really starting to gel as a team. Their play on the pitch (as well as their cheers on the sideline!) has improved on a weekly basis. The girls are working on control, spacing, footwork and their “fancy moves” that they share at each and every practice. Most importantly, several of the Foxes possess the rare ability to be both smiling and running at the same time. In short: the U8 Red Foxes are kind of amazing! Come see for yourself as these girls battle a 2nd grade boys’ team this Saturday at 11am at Town Park.
The U8 Boys Team, the Golden Goals led by Sarah Vigil and Lindsay Hess love playing soccer and apparently love close soccer matches, based on the team name they chose! The boys have shown a lot of progress this year and their hard work is highlighted by their improvement with individual ball skills, passing and spreading out on the field each and every week. The team is competitive in their NorCal league and placed second in their bracket at the Creedman Cup. Some of the boys will be competing in the 6th Annual Impact BooFest later this month. Most of all, these boys are having a blast learning and playing together! Come check them out at their next home game at Town Park on October 13th at 9 and 10am vs Marin FC.
